Everyday across the UAE there are countless people whose efforts to help others go unsung. It might be someone who goes the extra mile for you on a daily basis, or an individual who performed a selfless act in a time of need.
Below are just some of the many people living among us, nominated by our readers, who go beyond the call of duty to help others.
ASHWANI GOGIA, Indian, teacher
When most others are going to bed, Ashwani spends seven nights a week teaching people English from his tiny home in Dubai.
KAREEM, Indian, kind colleague
Despite suffering from diabetes, Kareem lives up to his name as a public relations officer by giving his friends rides to work each and every day.

This man has been in the UAE for quarter of a century and works day and night to help put his children through school, but he was too modest to talk about himself.

Jayne volunteers at a centre for mentally and physically handicapped people. Having lived in eight countries and 34 houses, Jayne has volunteered in most places she has lived "to try to better the situation wherever we went".
