Emiratisation of the workplace has been put in motion by a government-backed policy for a few years now. The issue is being dealt with as a national priority with some professions in the private sector witnessing these changes - the banking sector being the starting point of the implementation of the policy. As a result, today many Emiratis have the opportunity to break the barriers and experience the work environment first hand.

It is therefore very disappointing to see that some banks have been lagging behind in Emiratisation because of a discriminatory attitude and biased policies towards its Emirati workforce.

The banking sector was supposed to be the leading model for Emiratisation. If the approach has not been fully successful, then there should be a serious review of the entire process. The success of some banks in Emiratisation does not erase the negative effect of the failure of others.
