On Saturday the UAE will embark on a landmark process the Federal National Council's elections. It might be perceived as a small step in the context of the experiences of other countries, but it is historic at the national level as it is the first ever attempt to empower citizens and allow them a significant say in the policy making process.
Therefore it is the duty of the members of the electoral colleges to heed the call of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to actively participate in the polls.
That will make the experiment a success and, as Shaikh Mohammad said, "translate the project initiated by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for empowering the FNC into reality".
The process will draw the outlines of the nation's future, henceforth, it is an important national duty to be there on voting day.
