FNC elections spark interest among Australian MPs
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's resolution on election of half the members of the 40-seat Federal National Council (FNC) has sparked overwhelming interest among Australian MPs during a workshop organised by the Australian Parliament for MPs from various countries. Tariq Al Tanaiji, Head of Parliamentary Affairs, and Tariq Al Marzouqi, Head Public Relations at the FNC, gave presentations on various processes of the first-ever parliamentary elections in the UAE.

RCA 'has become key global aid donor'
Abu Dhabi: The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) carried out humanitarian, charitable and relief operations worth Dh2.7 billion from 1999 to September 2006. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and RCA President, said: "The RCA has become a key global aid and relief donor thanks to the continuous support lent to its projects by the country's leadership."

UAE hands over 52 renovated schools
Beirut: The UAE Initiative for Support and Reconstruction of Lebanon yesterday handed over 52 renovated schools to the Lebanese Ministry of Education, a UAE official has said. Mohammad Al Rumaith, Director General of the project, said yesterday's delivery took to 233 the total number of schools rebuilt and renovated in the south of Lebanon by the UAE.
