Dubai: The Cambridge Third International Teacher's Conference, which commenced yesterday here, covered the importance of technology resources in classrooms and its impact on the future of education.
The two-day event, held at the Dubai Knowledge Village, was organised by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and sponsored by the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum IT Education Project (ITEP).
The conference brought together 125 teachers from more than 60 schools from 22 countries.
"This is the first time we concentrate on the importance of technology in the classroom. In this conference we have organised seven workshops and we are hoping that the delegates will be able to make use of the discussion sessions," said Chris Dew, CIE's group manager and curriculum teacher support.
Sue Brindley from the faculty of education at the University of Cambridge said that there are challenges facing the use of IT in classrooms.
"I think the system is a challenge as you will need adequate resources and teachers must be familiar with technology," said the keynote speaker.
