Abu Dhabi: The National Election Committee (NEC) has urged members of the Electoral College (EC) to abide by the election timeline and by-laws to ensure the efficiency of the Federal National Council (FNC) election to be held on December 16, 18 and 20.
Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Head of the NEC, called upon UAE nationals planning to nominate themselves for the elections to follow the executive by-laws issued by NEC regarding election campaigns.
"The growing public interest in the polls is a positive sign and shows the enthusiasm of UAE nationals in participating and empowering the FNC as an effective body. The election by-laws and timeline are a critical part of the organisational process and it is important that all members of the Electoral College follow them," said Dr Gargash.
Dr Gargash highlighted the significance of properly studying the election by-laws. "The elections are a positive step towards paving the way for wider representation of UAE citizens and empowerment of the FNC. It will encourage the emergence of a new generation of young leaders. Elected FNC members will represent the needs and aspirations of UAE citizens as they build the future of our nation. We need everyone's cooperation to guarantee successful elections and reinforce our standing as a strong federation," said Dr Gargash.
The National Elections Committee is specifically assigned to supervise the elections.
