Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club, on Sunday opened the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre.
The exhibition, hosting 525 exhibitors from 42 countries, will continue until September 15. President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has donated 100 falcons to be raffled during the exhibition.
The gesture is in line with his commitment to support the conservation of the country's heritage and efforts.
Shaikh Hamdan toured the exhibition accompanied by Mohammad Khalaf Al Mazroui, chairman of the organising committee of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex).
Al Mazroui said the event, which is classified by international research institutions as one of the most important specialised exhibitions for falconry and hunting, "represents an exciting experience to all visitors and exhibitors alike, as it would feature different types of hunting equipment, camel and horse auctions, and thrilling Saluki shows which will be organised in cooperation with the Camel Research Centre, Emirates Arabian Horse Association and the Arabian Saluki Centre".
"This is besides the social atmosphere, cultural contests, falcon raffle draws, and opportunities for great buys and deals," Al Mazroui said.
The exhibition is sponsored by ProFalcon Project, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Thuraya and Al Badad Tents and Etihad Airways, the official carrier of the exhibition.
