Abu Dhabi: A diabetes centre dedicated to prevention, treatment, training and research was officially opened yesterday.
Shaikh Surour Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan officially opened the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC). Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, President of the Tourism Committee, also attended the opening ceremony.
Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director and CEO of Mubadala Development and ICLDC Chairman said the opening of the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre is a significant step in reversing the impact of diabetes in the UAE.
"It is also another step in the realisation of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision to provide the people of the UAE with the best healthcare facilities in the world," he added
The ICLDC is owned by Mubadala Development and is a result of partnership between Mubadala Development and Imperial College London.
The ICLDC building, based on the geometrical structure of an insulin molecule, is located next to Shaikh Zayed Military Hospital on Musaffah Road in Abu Dhabi.
