Dubai: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has lined up over 18 cartoon activities to spice up the DSS Cartoon Surprises Week, which kicked off on Thursday at the Mall of the Emirates. Sultan Majid Lootah, head of the organising committee, said this week is packed with treats that will provide children the opportunity to talk, sing and take photos with popular cartoon characters. Children can also enjoy plays, competitions and workshops at more than 15 shopping centres in Dubai, including the Ibn Battuta Mall, Al Bustan Centre, Lamcy Plaza, Deira City Centre, Mercato, Hamarain, BurJuman, Al Ghurair, Bin Sougat, Al Reef Mall, in addition to Modhesh Fun City.
"The aim of our cartoon activities is basically cultural and these activities will be conducted for children of different nationalities with the company of different cartoon characters that would help enhance their knowledge and social awareness and teach them the importance of hard work to achieve success," said Lootah. Modhesh, along with other cartoon characters, entertained children and shoppers at the Mall of the Emirates yesterday, to mark the opening of the Cartoon Surprises Week. Hundreds of balloons were showered on the children, who were thrilled with the audio-visual effects and the 'Cartoon Fantasy' song that was played for the occasion. This was followed by theatrical shows performed by 20 artistes dressed in costumes of cartoon characters. Each child received a gift from his favourite cartoon character. "Bringing those cartoon characters to highlight our activities of the Cartoon Surprises Week will encourage children to attend all these events," said Abdul Rahman G. Al Mutaiwe'e, director-general of DCCI.
